The Wonders of A Newborn Baby

With your first pregnancy you remember being both in love with the new life you were carrying – and being terrified. Terrified of childbirth and whether you would be able to manage a diaper or figure out how to bathe a slippery baby, or whether you would really even like being a mom.

The truth is, there's no need to worry. What you, and millions of moms before and after you, discovered, is that the magic of a new baby makes it all worth it. Aside from the fact that they are yours and you love them, there's so much that's wonderful and special about a newborn.

Bonding in the sense of learning how to be a mom and care for an infant may not be instantaneous or easy, but the connection is still there immediately.

With your first child, it happens the moment they lay him on your stomach and he looked up at you with his huge dark eyes. Somehow you know the soul inside of him is one you've always known.

Everything else fades in importance the moment you hold this child you've been carrying for so long. They know you, and you know them, and it's like no other feeling in the world. How he feels has the strongest impact on you. He is surprisingly warm and heavy and you want to wrap your arms around him and not let go.

Every mom probably has a unique memory of the moment she met her child for the first time and all probably feel tears come to their eyes remembering it, no matter how many years have passed.

What is it about babies that makes it impossible to take your eyes off them that they didn't even need to be doing anything, and you would watch them, examine them, drink them in. You are not the only one who feels that way.

Some spent hours staring at their newborn son, unable to stop noticing the tiniest details about him. The translucency of his eyelids when he blinked, the soft sighs of his breath when he slept, the quiver of his chin when he cried for you. And it was in recognizing the very smallness of him, that perceived fragility and, yet, his enormous power over you, that you realized just how magnificent a creation he is ... and how wonderful and huge is your responsibility in being a mom.

Whenever you're around a newborn baby, you breathe deeper. Your lungs expand more fully. You close your eyes to block out anything else but your sense of smell. Whether it's the fragrance of their hair, the warm curve of their neck or their brand-new breath smell.Babies have this wonderful, sweet smell. You love it.

You never want to put your babies down. You want to hold them constantly. The way their little bodies mold to yours, relaxed and trusting – the memory still makes you misty. Whether you are nursing or napping, it didn't matter. You have each other.

Seems hard to believe you can learn appreciation from an infant, but you did. You learned to appreciate quiet moments.

Remember a time when you so lacked self-consciousness that you felt completely free to be yourself? Newborn babies, however, have no such concerns. They laugh and cry and explore all around them with curiosity and their reactions are real and free from the desire to meet anyone's expectations.

Then there's the innocence of a baby. Their newness and freshness on earth. Dont you love how they look up at you, but just over your shoulder. It just seems that they can see their angels.

We hope that you and your baby's journey will be a wonderful experience that you will treasure for a lifetime. Make the most out of that precious moment and celebrate every part of it with style. Baby Couture style, that is.
